Best new tracks Down Under #12




With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.



SLY WITHERS - GOOGLE MAPS


The Perth grunge-indie punk quartet start off on a slow build vocals and acoustic guitar on this third single from their forthcoming second album. But hang on, as it soon starts working up to a big storming electric track.

DENNIS COMETTI - SUNNIE TAN


Not a he but a they, a three-piece 'they' from Perth with this new release, out this week. Following on from last year's 'On The Sauce' EP, their self-described "Hell shit garage music" raises a smile with its infectious quality.




ONONO - PICKUP POINT


Released March 16, the lead single from Wellington, NZ Jono Nott's forthcoming EP 'Stand'. There's a lot to like here from the dreamy vocal layers, throbbing bass and psych-persuasive guitars.

THE FAIM - MIDLAND LINE


The second single from Perth alt-rockers, with arresting rhythms and big stadium melodies, and driving guitarsm The band are on an extensive UK tour April onwards with Lower Than Atlantis, as well as their own headline shows and festival slots at The Great Escape and Camden Rocks.

CANDY - APARTMENT IN THE CITY


Lo-fi bedroom pop from Melbourne's Calum Newton, released March 23. Four and a half minutes of toir-tapping, smooth instrumentation and a soaring vocal.




THE CAVEMEN - JANEY


Capturing the spirit of 70s punk, currently London-based New Zealanders from Auckland release their third full-length 'Nuke Earth' on April 6 via Slovenly Recordings. Rowdy, raw garage punk-rock, made up of frantic vocals, screeching guitars, and infectious riffs. For Londoners, they play Shacklewell Arms on May 11.
